“I've held a fascination for portraiture since the beginning of my painting career. My goal is always to capture the specifics of personality with accuracy and spirit. I  hope to delight those who know the subject and intrigue those who do not.

I enjoy receiving  portrait commissions and I paint all genders, ages and species.  If you'd like a portrait painted of yourself, an associate or loved one, please do contact me. I work in graphite, watercolor and oil using the most time tested and permanent of art materials, assuring a potential heirloom."     George Buchanan

Procedure

I usually  require at least two live sittings to complete a portrait. Ideally, I like to spend some time with my subjects getting to know their expressions, mannerisms, likes and dislikes. During this first meeting,  I sketch, take photographs and decide on a composition. Next, I  work in my studio for 1 to 2 months, bringing the portrait near completion. Then, I prefer  to finalize to portrait with a live sitting of about 2 hours. I paint my portraits using traditional techniques and mediums, the photographs are only for reference.  I require a deposit of 50% to begin the commission and the balance at completion.
