GREY EVENING watercolor,
11" X 15"
The lightning spreads a tree of violet and orange over the western sky. In this instant an owl flying over the basin below makes a resounding WHOA sound. After several echoes around the hollow, the owl's call is followed by a continual roll of thunder that the pond chirpers and bullfrogs respond to by reaching a crescendo. Then silence, silence that reaches far into the stars and echoes the departing winter.
