RISING FOG oil on canvas, 21" X 34"
When Autumn arrives the land becomes filled with morning mists that rises from the ponds in the newly cooled air. Every turn in the road can bring an intimate explosion of light and color. I have always had an emotional association with the mists of Autumn. Recently, one morning while taking the girls to school near our home, I was struck by the splendor of this particular spot in the road. The play of mist and clouds localized the scene making the land and atmosphere feel closer and more intimate. I stopped and did pencil sketches by the roadside.
